The armholes of her nightie are damp as she leans over her walking frame and shuffles into the dining room.
“Italian today: mac and cheese,” a nurse announces.
“Che schifo!” Martha exclaims, shaking her white head.
“Oh, I forgot we had the patron saint of mealtimes with us,” the nurse chides. She blushes and meekly asks for the password to the computer wedged into a far corner.
The nurse raises an eyebrow and scribbles on a piece of paper. She slides onto the plastic chair and Googles; “Tiramisu.” Saliva laced with memory glides over her tongue to her stomach. Ecstasy.
